Mix Files

A mix file contains the details of a concrete mix design, including Job and Company Details, the cement properties together with Pozzolan properties, aggregate measurements and/or trial mix results, if these have been used in the mix design.

Mix files are displayed and edited in Mix Design Forms.

Mix files, also termed ‘mix’ type files since their file names have the extension ‘mix’, are stored by default in the directory specified for mix files in Location of Files.

A new mix file is normally created and displayed in a Mix Design Form when Firstmix is run.

New mix files can also be created and displayed in a Mix Design Form with the New item of the File menu.

Short Cut:

Mouse:Click on the Toolbar button.

Existing mix files can be opened and displayed in a Mix Design Form with the Open item of the File menu.

Short Cuts:

Mouse:Click on the Toolbar button.

Click on the mix file name, where it is displayed in Windows Explorer.

It is possible to have several mix files open simultaneously when Firstmix is run, but only one file will be active at any one time. This will be the file, which is displayed in a Mix Design Form whose Title Bar appears in full colour.

The active mix file can be saved under a new name with the Save As item of the File menu or under its old name with the Save item of the File menu.

New mix files are created without a name. They are must be given a name when they are first saved.

You will also be given the chance to save mix files, which have been edited, if you close a Mix Design Form or exit from Firstmix.

The active mix file can be printed with the Print item of the File Menu.

The contents of the mix design form and/or a mix recipe can be printed. If aggregate measurements and/or trial mix results have been used in the current mix design, they may also be printed and Company Details can be included.
