The Maximum Cement Content may be entered on a Mix Design Form, provided the Specify Maximum Cement Content Check Box has been ticked.
Some specifications set a maximum cement content in order to limit heat of hydration and/or shrinkage.
If the Specify Maximum Cement Content Check Box is ticked, you can enter a maximum cement content, which will be checked against the required cement content or against the required Cement and Pozzolan Content, if Pozzolan is to be included in the mix.
If the maximum cement content is exceeded by either the cement content needed for concrete strength or the minimum cement content required for durability, the concrete mix specification cannot be met. The mix proportions ignoring the maximum cement content are output, but a Warning Message is given.
Consideration should be given to changing the cement type, adding Pozzolan to the cement, increasing the maximum size of coarse aggregate, reducing the size of the pour, changing the method of placing concrete to reduce the required workability, or using air entrainingment or water-reducing agents.
